Welcome to the Forks Over Knives website—and producer’s blog. Thank you for your support and openness to a message that seems to have such profound potential. On this page, I will share with you the latest inside information and musings as we finish production and begin bringing the film to audiences all over. In a series of entries, I will also share with you anecdotes from our journey, and discuss the story about how Forks Over Knives grew from an idea to a feature film.
The film was a collaborative effort involving the production team, experts, patients and others. I am grateful to the members of the Forks Over Knives team, all of whom demonstrated skill, commitment and a personal desire to produce the best film possible. I particularly thank co-producer Allison Boon, editors Brian Crance and John Orfanopolous, and additional editor Michael Fahey. Most of all, I thank producer John Corry and writer/director Lee Fulkerson, both of whom not only endured many sleepless nights, but had to deal with my neurosis on a regular basis!
While the crew has been hard at work for the past year and a half, this message is only possible because of the lifetime of work by the featured researchers and professionals. Drs. John McDougall, Neal Barnard, Junshi Chen, to name a few, have dedicated their entire careers to understanding the relatationship between diet and health. Their work has resulted in the improvement and saving of many lives. I give a special thanks to Dr. Pam Popper, another professional helping people every day. Dr. Popper not only appeared in the film, but worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the information we presented was accurate and useful.
I have the greatest gratitude for the main features of the film, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn. Their body of work, I believe, will survive the test of time and generations of people will experience a greater quality of life as a result of their skill and dedication. Our crew was fortunate to spend a good deal of time with Drs. Campbell and Esselstyn along with their wives, Karen and Ann. The kindness and generosity of these families as they shared with us their remarkable journeys was something I will never forget.
Thank you for allowing the film into your lives. I hope the film’s message will lead to greater health and have many benefits for you and your families.
Best wishes,
Brian Wendel
